With the rising trend of use of mobile devices in the workplace, organizations are changing their approach to mobility. Companies are moving to BYOD, a cost saving approach, allowing employees to use their own smartphones or tablets at work with MDM Android. Along with cost benefits, this approach brings many new advantages as well as challenges for businesses with manage android devices.

A Gartner CIO survey says “As enterprise bring your own device (BYOD) programs continue to become more commonplace, 38 percent of companies expect to stop providing devices to workers by 2016”. On the same note, another survey from Techpro says “74% of organizations are either using or planning to use BYOD in the future”.

The one challenge which is on the top of the list is ‘How to balance employee privacy and mobile device security with MDM for Android devices ?’

In a BYOD program, the rapid influx of employee-owned devices brings a serious threat to enterprise data security. It may harm the companies data security if a device is damaged or lost or when an employee leaves a job. On the other hand, employees never want overloaded security measures on their mobile devices, which can interfere with their personal freedom, like deleting personal data, setting passcodes to personal information, restricting access to certain websites or apps.

These conflicting desires of both parties have brought major challenges for the IT guys. However, these demands can be balanced if proper measures are taken along with implementing Mobile Device Management solution.

  1. At first, Legal & Liability traits should be checked while executing a BYOD policy. In case corporate or private data are exposed, no one takes responsibility. Consequently, before putting control measures into action, liability should be clearly stated by the legal department and legal consequences of the damages must be decided.
  2. Secondly, while making the MDM Solution policies, IT should use technical controls to secure both corporate as well as BYOD users’ personal data.
  3. Third, before implementing the policies, IT must consider the perception and views of the employees towards MDM Android on their personal devices. A selective survey can do the needful in case they are not certain about employee views about their rights.
  4. Fourth, the employees who are not aware of BYOD program and have not experienced the same earlier should be trained properly before implementing the procedures.

At last, before trying out these policies with MDM for Android as a whole, a test round can be done. If you select a few of the employees and implement a trial round on them for a week or so, you can save yourself from making major mistakes.

BYOD is certainly a beneficial approach where employees do not need to carry extra devices with them and businesses do not need to spend the extra cost for buying those devices. It is an understanding that is done for mutual benefits. However, to avoid the threats, you can use your Mobile Device Management Android Software.
